The minister, who was speaking at an assessment meeting with state-owned transport companies, explained that the second stage in the rehabilitation of the mentioned port will include the construction of a cold-storage section and a new containers storage area of about 30,000 square kilometres.

He also mentioned some minor investments that have been made by the Namibe Port company.

Augusto Tomás reminded that Namibe Port is an essential undertaking that contributes to the development of Angola’s southern region.

“Interconnected with the Moçâmedes Railway (which starts in Namibe Province) the Namibe Port will be used more and more for the exportation of minerals, in the ambit of the ongoing projects in the southern region of Angola, and others that will certainly spring up, such as the Cassinga iron mines”, he revealed.
