Lunda Sul: Govt announces decentralisation of structural road maintenance

Saurimo - Provincial governments and Municipal Administrations will be in charge of the maintenance and conservation of public infrastructures, in particular secondary and tertiary roads.

This was announced Wednesday by minister of Construction and Public Work, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, in Saurimo, eastern Lunda Sul province.

According to him, the initiative will be supported by   National Road Institute of Angola (INEA).

The official said that the Municipal Administrations, in particular, should qualify for this responsibility.

In order to achieve this goal, he said, his sector is planning to launch a training for trainers in various specialties in the provinces of Luanda, Huambo and Malanje.

In turn, he added, the trainers will convey the knowledge to the technicians who will carry out the maintenance and conservation of the infrastructures in their areas of jurisdiction.

As for the situation of structural roads in Lunda Sul province, the minister said that the priority will be the completion of the works in progress.

He mentioned the sections linking Saurimo / Dala, Biula/Muconda, Dala/Luma Cassai and Saurimo/ Luo, Muriege/Chiluange/Cassai Sul.
