Speaking to the press after having moved to the stretch, under construction since October 2017, he said that the current level of physical performance is satisfactory but has not advanced a concrete date for its opening to road traffic.
He explained that because of the intensity and constancy of the rain, the contractor gave priority to the construction of the hydraulic passages and the four bridges that make up the 65 kilometer course.
Manuel Tavares de Almeida said that the completion of the rehabilitation works will meet the population's concern, especially regarding the reinforcement of trade between the regions of Huambo and Huíla, and to promote economic development, through the large corn triangle, namely Caála (Huambo), Caconda (Huíla) and Cubal (Benguela).
With 65 kilometers, of which 45 belong to the province of Huambo and another 20 to the province of Huíla, the work is budgeted at 6.4 billion Kwanzas.
