Conditions created for Açucareira housing project kick off

Caxito - Angola's minister of Planning and Housing Ana Paula de Carvalho assured Thursday in Caxito that technical and financial conditions have been created for the start-up of Açucareira housing project in northern Bengo province this year.

The minister made the pledge while paying a visit to assess the site for construction of the project and the land reserve of Mabubas.

The official said the project did not start before due to the conflict that hit the area, but now all is set

to start operating.

The project was launched on August 15, 2017 and foresees construction of 212  houses, including 152 houses in four-story buildings and 60 in two six-story buildings.

The project will also comprise 12 shops, social facilities, a primary school with capacity for 600 students, health unit and a police station.

She stressed that there is an urbanisation plan in the 300-hectare Mabubas land reserve, and funding is now being requested for its implementation.

Bengo's governor, Mara Quiosa, said that Açucareira's housing project will dignify the province of Bengo and help the young people to get their own house.
