Angola: Minister calls for awareness campaign

Luanda - Angolan Health minister Sílvia Lutucuta Saturday in Luanda spoke of the need for promoting awareness campaigns in the communities aimed at clarifying on the risks of ignoring appropriate disease prevention measures.

The official was speaking to the press after the launching of a campaign dubbed “ Our Luanda without malaria”.

Lutukuta regretted the existence of stagnant water and trash piled in some neighbourhoods of Luanda province, with stress to Cassequele do Buraco, urban district of Maianga.

The prevalence of such sanitary conditions may contribute to the emergence of illness, noted the minister, stressing the importance of awareness campaigns to keep the residents informed

on the importance of good hygiene in their communities.  

The activity was part of the celebration of 442nd anniversary of the foundation of Luanda, set for

January 25.
