Angola needs 300,000 regular volunteer donors

Luanda - The National Blood Institute (INS) needs around 300,000 regular volunteer donors nationwide to stop blood shortage in hospital units, said Saturday, the director general of this institution, Antónia Constantino.

She made these remarks to the press during the opening of the activist training cycle aimed at recruiting more donors.

The director general of the INS said that at present the country has only 12,000 volunteer donors, a number that she considers insignificant, stressing that they are organized in brigades and others act individually.

The official said that this year they intend to train 600 activists, 90 in Luanda and 30 in each of the other 17 provinces.
