The information was given last Sunday to ANGOP by the head of surgical services of the Neurosurgery Centre of Kifica (Luanda Province), who is also co-ordinator of the said team, Maianda Inocente.

He explained that the results are very encouraging considering the evolution being recorded in the condition of the children that were submitted to the surgery.

“The surgeries happened with success and overcame expectations, considering the clinical state showed by some of the children, which derive from other pathologies”, explained the specialist.

The referred children – whose ages range from two months to nine years old – were submitted to the surgery at the Military Hospital of Lunda Sul Province.

He added that the surgical interventions lasted between fifty minutes to one hour.

On her turn, the director of the Lunda Sul Provincial Health Department, Maria Dina Segunda, said that this is the first step out of many yet to be taken in regard to tackling the hydrocephalus disease.

She appealed to the families with relatives that have this disease to immediately resort to the health units.
