Minister praises sense of state of humanitarian mission

Luanda - Angolan Health Minister Silva Lutucuta praised the solidarity, disciplined, selfless spirit of the delivery and brotherhood of Angola's humanitarian aid mission members who for 40 days provided support to the population of Beira (Mozambique) affected by cyclone IDAI.

The Angolan mission consisted of 128 civilian and military personnel, including doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and epidemiologists, who developed during the emergency and post-emergency phases several activities in the districts of Dondo and Beira headquarters.

The minister, who was speaking at the ceremony honoring members of the mission, said that her work was developed with a sense of state, representing the Angolans.

According to Sílvia Lutucuta, the fraternal gesture towards the brotherly people of Mozambique spoke louder because it is the main evidence of solidarity, love of neighbor and construction of a room in the school of life, with eternal learning.

Among other actions, the mission carried out the rehabilitation and equipping of the Dondo health center, medical and sanitary assistance for the affected population, and an ambulance was offered to the hospital unit.

The Angolan Government provided air and land resources to support the populations of the cyclone Idai calamity, as well as food and other equipment.

The helicopters have conducted more than 70 flights establishing food refueling bridges and means to distant communities.
