Measles vaccination covers over 100,000 children

Saurimo - At least 106,806 children were vaccinated against measles in the province of Lunda Sul during a campaign held in May this year, reported Thursday in Saurimo, the head of the department of Public Health in the region, Domingos Tchinguendji.

Speaking to Angop, the official said that the campaign was confined to four municipalities in the province of Lunda Sul, namely Cacolo (4,996 children immunized), Dala (7,632), Muconda (920) and Saurimo 84,974).

He said that for the success of the campaign, 103 teams were involved, with 32 health professionals, including pediatricians, laboratory technicians, nurses and ophthalmologists, as well as specialists from the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), mobilizers and traditional authorities.

He called on parents and other guardians to report possible measles cases to health authorities, both in homes and communities, so that the health sector can combat the disease.
