Luanda government, UNICEF sign cooperation protocol
Luanda - Luanda Provincial Government (GPL) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) signed Thursday in Luanda a protocol of cooperation for health and education fields.

GPL and UNICEF sign cooperation protocol

The protocol was signed by Luanda Governor Sérgio Luther Rescova Joaquim and UNICEF representative in Angola, Abubacar Mamadbhay Sultan.
The protocol foresees the development of complementary joint actions for the protection and promotion of the rights of children and adolescents.
Activities will also cover the areas of mother and child, social protection, birth registration, water and sanitation and institutional capacity building.
The implementation of the protocol will allow the drafting of annual work plans, which includes detailed activities, expected results, responsibilities of the parties, schedules, goals and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
The protocol reflects the observance and respect for the right to special attention on children, according to number 1 and 2 of article 80 of the Angolan Constitution and other complementary legislation.
Praising the exercise, Luanda governor, Sérgio Luther, considered the signing of the protocol fundamental.
He said that the initiative will help improve many social actions, in favour of vulnerable children, underway in the province.
In turn, UNICEF representative Abubacar Mamadhay Sultan expressed his organisation availability to contribute to disease prevention and immunisation.
UNICEF official added the institution will also help improve the quality of education, supporting childbirth registration, combat violence against children.
