Covid-19 - Zaire province with 85 people in quarantine

Mbanza Kongo - Over 85 national citizens from which 26 female are in institutional and home quarantine in the province of Zaire in the framework of the measures to fight the new coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the country.

The information was disclosed in Mbanza Kongo by the technical coordinator of the provincial commission on the pandemic response, João Miguel Paulo while explaining the point of situation about the pandemic in the region in a meeting led by the provincial governor, Pedro Makita Júlia.  

The official who is also the Provincial Health Office director stated that 70 citizens are in quarantine since 24 March in the Kintambi village (Soyo) after returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The official stressed that 12 people are on social isolation in the Cuimba village which is 62 kilometers from Mbanza Congo city, after having contact with DRC citizens at the border.

However, according to a source, two national citizens who returned from South Africa passing through the country capital city (Luanda) are in quarantine in the city of Mbanza Congo.  

The Soyo, Mbanza Kongo, Nzeto, Nóqui and Cuimba municipalities, have centers to host eventual cases.
