Minister clarifies return of retired health workers amid COVID-19

Luanda - Angola's Health minister Sílvia Lutucuta said Wednesday that the request of retired professionals of the sector owed to the need to strengthen the health units and quarantine and treatment centers of Covid-19.

The minister, who was speaking at press conference on the country's Covid-19 pandemic statists, acknowledged existing low qualified staff to meet the demand.

Last Tuesday, the Ministry of Health declared that retired health care professionals should show up in places and days to be defined by the Provincial Health Offices.

"Requested professionals should only work in the quarantine centers or in reference units specialised for the treatment of Covid-19 cases, after a positive assessment", reads out the Ministerial decree

The documents states that the Provincial Health Offices must ensure all necessary support to the professionals in their activities, as well as to set the working condition.

The Ministry guarantees the payment of salaries and allowances according to the category of each professional, the document clarified.
