Angolan government reopens libraries, cinemas, theatres

Luanda - After 59 days closed, due to the State of Emergency decreed by the President of the Republic on March 27, Angolan government is to reopen museums, libraries, media libraries, cinemas, theatres, monuments and similar establishments on July 13.

The concerned institutions, including the operation of fairs and exhibitions, are subject to 50 percent of the capacity of the rooms, says the Presidential Decree, which imposes henceforth the State of Calamity in the country.

Recreational, cultural and leisure activities on public roads or in public spaces will operate in three phases, with museums, libraries, media libraries, theatres, monuments and similar establishments starting on July 13.

According to the Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, the access to beaches and other bathing areas is conditioned to the beginning of the bathing season.

Other cultural and artistic activities are subject to their own regulations.

Regarding the churches, Adão de Almeida said that they will be reopened on June 24, with a limitation of up to 50 per cent of the capacity of the places of worship, not exceeding 150 people.

Religious institutions may celebrate activities 4 days a week, with the remaining days being reserved for the hygiene of the places of worship.

Angola records 70 positive cases of the covid-19 , 48 active, four deaths and 18 recovered, so far, 42 cases of local transmission and 28 imported have been recorded.
