Speaking to the press last Tuesday, at the opening of the training programme for volunteer activists, the head of a department at the National Youth Institute, Adérito Sambo, referred that the training action brings together young people from all the municipalities of Luanda.
He stressed that the training action aims to provide communities with information regarding Covid-19, as well as the need to comply with the safety measures recommended by national and international health authorities.
“In addition to training other activists, young people will make communities aware of postures to be taken in public places, through a door-to-door campaign, with the distribution of leaflets and practical demonstrations on ways to prevent Covid-19”, he said.
When speaking in the act, the secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, said that the contingency plan drawn up by the Angolan State favours epidemiological, laboratory and sanitary surveillance, case management, logistics and communication, as main axes.
"It is in this scope of communication that we promote, together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Angolan Youth Institute, the training of activists, who, in turn, will educate the community about the situation of covid-19", he said.
Franco Mufinda predicts that the dissemination of information will enable greater prevention on the part of the community, since it will have the necessary knowledge to face the situation.
The secretary of State for Youth, Fernando João, stressed that the training will equip the volunteer activists with knowledge that they will be able to take to the streets, twice a week, in order to explain the correct measures to prevent covid-19.
He noted that the country is experiencing a challenging moment in terms of public health, urging, however, the need to unite synergies in order to intensify awareness campaigns among communities.
In the last 24 hours, the country recorded three more positive cases, including one death.
With these data, Angola sees the number of infected people increase to 186, of which 99 are active, 77 are recovered and 10 deaths.
