This is the first humanitarian flight to rescue compatriots that the Multi-sectoral Commission for the Prevention and Fight against this pandemic is directing to this South American country from which Angolans have already returned in other circumstances and aeronautical operators.
Thus, the Boeing 777-300 is expected to leave Brazil (a country with strong historical links to Angola) in the early hours of Thursday, with arrival in Luanda on the afternoon of the same Thursday, bringing students, businessmen and different professionals, among others.
Angop has learnt from an aeronautical source that other flights may take place to and from other points, provided that authorized or guided by the Government, in coordination with the authorities of those countries and with the availability of Quarantine Centers.
This unprecedented flight to Brazil happens five months after the outbreak of the disease in the Chinese city of Wuhan, in December 2019, and after TAAG has already rescued Angolans in Portugal, Turkey, Russia and China.
Between March and the present date, it also brought biosafety and hospital equipment from China and South Africa, the latter country, from where it transported, on Thursday, July 09, 449 Angolans in difficulty in this southern African country.
