The decision was announced last Monday, in Luanda, by the secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, during the usual update on the pandemic in the country, stressing that the infected individuals (men) are part of the 44 new cases detected in the last 24 hours.
"As a result, a lockdown will be effected in the referred shopping centre and the respective direct contacts will be tracked", said the official, however, without specifying the date of the beginning of the sanitary fence in the said locality.
Despite the fact that the disease started in the Chinese city of Wuhan, in December 2019, and the community of this Asian giant in Angola is very numerous (more than five thousand citizens), these are the first two cases officially linking Chinese citizens.
With 44 newly infections, the country now has 749 positive cases, with 29 deaths, 221 recovered and 499 active (15 in critical condition), with Viana, Cacuaco, Ingombota, Samba, Cazenga, Rangel and Talatona localities being the most affected areas, said Franco Mufinda.
Of the total of infections, mostly Angolans residing in the provinces of Luanda and Cuanza Norte, there are also South African, Guinea, Lebanese, American and Indian nationalities, in the period of four months, since the first two cases in March.
