Covid-19: 3000 teachers to test Wednesday

Luanda - At least three thousand general education teachers will be submitted to the rapid serological test of covid-19 on Wednesday (30) to assess the level of exposure to the Sars-Cov-2 virus in the teaching class, at a time when there are only seven days left before the start of classes in the 2nd cycle of secondary and higher education.

On updating briefing on covid-19 for the last 24 hours in Angola, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, said that random tests would be carried out as of 8am, at the Largo das Escolas, near IMNE Marista, in Luanda.

On that occasion, the public health specialist also said that for every 100 people tested in Angola it was expected that at least five would be infected with the virus, which represents an expected positivity rate of 5.4 percent.

National epidemiological situation

With the diagnosis of 79 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, Luanda province remains the epicentre of the disease, with a total of 4,391 infected.

Of the total number of cases registered in Luanda, 2,570 are active, 1,658 recovered and 163 people died from covid-19 in the country's capital.

Next comes Zaire province, which so far has reported 116 cases, 78 of which have been recovered and 47 are under clinical follow-up.

Cabinda has 103 patients, 101 of whom are active, one recovered and the same number of deaths.

Benguela has 62 infected, 48 active, 11 recovered and three deaths.

The province of Huambo has 50 cases, with 24 active and the same number of recovered patients and two deaths, while Kwanza Norte has 26 infected, of which one active, 24 recovered and one died.

Huila has a total of 18 cases (15 active, three recovered and one death) and Bengo has a total of eight patients (two active, four recovered and two deaths).
