The minister said so after the inauguration of two health facilities in the eastern province of Lunda Sul - the general hospital and the provincial maternity hospital - by the President, João Lourenço.

Sílvia Lutukuta said the Executive has outlined policies aimed to improve the health system in the country, an important factor for the socioeconomic development of the provinces and municipalities.

The official said that it was the intention of the sector to promote the quality of medical and medication care, invest in the training of human resources, for the full preservation of national health.

She stressed that the national health service is in the modern lines of strategies for the reduction of diseases, especially in the appeal of healthy living habits, the participation of communities and other sectors, to ensure an increasingly assertive approach.

According to her, the province of Lunda Sul has conditions to create internment spaces for medical specialisation, in gynecology, obstetrics, neonatology, contributing to the reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality.

Meanwhile, the minister of Health said that it is important to reinforce education actions with communities, so that they can influence their daily lives, thus contributing to the reduction of the covid-19 virus.

The construction works of Lunda Sul Provincial General Hospital and Maternity Hospital, with a capacity for 150 beds each, under the Chinese financing line cost USD 68 million (USD 34 million each).
