Trade Unions mark May 1st, international workers day
Mateus Viage - Secretary General of UNTA-CS
In a joint statement, read at the time, the two trade unions expressed their concern about the negative impact caused by the sharp fall of oil price in the international market.
The oil price drop is causing inflation, rising commodity prices, the loss of purchasing power, the sharp reduction in family income, lack of liquidity in companies and layoff, added the statement.
In view of this situation and in protection of living and working conditions of employees, UNTA-CS and FSA-CS called on the government and employers to increasingly promote decent work.
The trade unions also called for the need to increase and ensure good management of public, road, rail and sea transport.
Speaking to Angop, before the march, the secretary general of UNTA-CS, Manuel Viage, said his organisation is united against the economic crisis.
