Bengo: Former Combatants Minister reiterates fight against corruption

Caxito - The Minister of Former Combatants and Motherlan Veterans, João Ernesto dos Santos, reiterated on Friday in Caxito, northern Bengo province, the fight against corruption and nepotism in his ministry.

The minister, who was speaking at a meeting with the representatives of the local Former Combatants and Motherlan Veterans directorate at the end of a 48-hour working visit to the region, said that the fight against these practices is in accordance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, aiming to end this evil that hits the society.

He assured that the sector has the primary responsibility to cover and treat on an equal level all former combatants, without partisan distinction, taking into account the crucial contribution they have made to the freedom of Angolans.

"Angolans should put aside party interests, especially in the Ministry of Former Combatants and Motherland Veterans, to contribute to the development of the country," he said.

As for the homologation of the 40.000 processes of the sector, the official warned that the processes that do not meet the necessary requirements will be returned, as part of a work of transparency.

On the other hand, he ensured that the concerns raised at the meeting will be taken to the attention of the competent central structures, such as the lack of agricultural inputs, transportation for production, social housing, higher education for children of former combatants, identification cards, and other complaints.

During his visit, the minister held a meeting with the provincial governor of Bengo, João Miranda, and visited the Memorial of the Motherland Heroes in Caxito, the agricultural cooperatives "Desire", in the commune of Ucua (Dande) Campos Kimangumbo "in Canacassala (Nambuangongo), as well as the artisanal fishing cooperative, in the municipality of Ambriz, 127 kilometers from the city of Caxito.
