Angolan youth requires social investment - UNFPA
Luanda - Angolan youths are heterogeneous group that requires economic, educational, political and social investments based on collective needs and diversities, resulting from social determinations, said Friday the representative of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).

Florbela Fernandes was speaking during a meeting on the proposal for multisectoral meeting, in the light of Informed Responsible and Organised Youth (JIRO) project.
The official said that the multi-sector approach allows greater and better harmonisation, coordination and operation of policies, strategies and programmes for the benefit of Angolan youth.
She said to believe that social and economic progress can hardly be achieved in the coming years until the implementation and expansion of the rights and opportunities of young people.
The official added that promoting the youth agenda is a moral obligation, a social, economic and political need.
Florbela Fernandes assured that UNFPA is aware that youth is shaping both the future and the present of humankind and therefore defended that the full potential of every young people should be achieved.
She said that JIRO programme and the ministerial commitment on comprehensive sexuality education in Eastern and Southern Africa are seeking help in order to contribute to the healthy, harmonious and responsible development of adolescents and young people.
However, the strategic decisions must be taken to make the construction of prosperity, peace and sustainable development a reality, she noted.
The establishment of the technical committee, with the participation of the health, education, family and women's promotion and media sectors, complements the progress made by the Angolan Executive in the area of youth.
