A source told Angop that in addition to robbing cars and other items, the suspects kidnapped women whom they drove into abandoned farms in the municipalities of Cacuaco, Viana and Belas and raped them at gunpoint.

According to the police source, the detention followed a tipoff from a woman whom the suspects threw into a ditch on account of being pregnant.

The source added that one of the gang members was a police officer whose identity is still to be disclosed.

The gang was found in possession of firearms and stolen cars they allegedly used in their actions.
