US grants over USD two million for sanitation in Benguela

Luanda - At least USD 2.4 million financed by the Government of the United States of America through its Agency for International Development (USAID), with the objective of improving the water and sanitation situation of four municipalities in the province of Benguela.

Benguela: Derrick Brown, USAID representative in Angola

According to a document from the US embassy in Luanda, the funding, which involves the Angolan Government, is aimed at capturing water in the municipality of Benguela, Cubal, Ganda and Chongoroi, under the initiative "Water for All "of the Angolan government.

To this end, the United States, in collaboration with the Benguela provincial government, through USAID, closed the project "Basic Sanitation in Schools and Communities" in the region.

The closing ceremony of the project was attended by the Provincial Governor of Benguela, Rui Falcão Pinto de Andrade, the director of the USAID mission in Angola, Derrick Brown, and the municipal administrators of Benguela, Cubal, Ganda and Chingoroi.
