The official said so at the closing ceremony of the Conference on the Challenges of Press Freedom in Angola, as part of the World Press Freedom Day, which is marked on May 3, adding that the legal conditions for the emerging of new private Media organs are created.

Minister Melo also defended the need for entrepreneurs to invest in the media sector, despite recognizing the scarcity of newspapers, due to the economic situation which the country is experiencing.

He said that the strengthening of the Social Communication system can also be done through international cooperation.

"The Governments 's commitment is to communicate with fluency, ensuring that there is a diversified and open press sector," he said.

To him it is the responsibility of the ministry to implement the commitments of the Executive and to ensure that they are fulfilled in a serious and mature manner, since a new moment is being lived in the country's paradigm and freedom of the press is felt more in the media.

João Melo stressed that Angola will soon embark in a project to move to digital television hoping that with this action will bring more investments in the field of social communication.
