Journalists recognize existence of press freedom

Sumbe - The emergence of varied private media outlets in Angola, such as newspapers, radio and TV broadcasting stations, and opening of new sources of information pose gains for the freedom of press freedom.

This was told to Angop on Thursday in Sumbe city, coastal Cuanza Sul province by journalists under the celebration of the World Press Freedom Day, being marked on May 03.

The journalists underscored the existence of plural information that discuss issues through varied angles.

To the journalist of the Angolan Public Television (TPA) in Cuanza Sul, Santareno Henriques, there is press freedom in the public and private media, which discuss issues without boundaries.

He advised the professionals of the class to be more responsible in the doing their jobs with rigor, responsibility and professional deontology.

On his turn, Casimiro José, journalist of the state-owned daily newspapers (Jornal de Angola), said that in Cuanza Sul, freedom of press is visible, with emergence of more media outlets, although there is still a small openness to the sources by some State institutions, there is the need to strengthen this legal instrument, so that journalists can exercise their activity without any embarrassment.
