EU grants over EUR 3 million for risk management
Lubango - The European Union (EU) has made available EUR 3.4 million to develop the program for Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Structures and Institutional Capacities in the provinces of Huila, Namibe and Cunene.

The project launched today, in Lubango city, is promoted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to support the process of restoring and strengthening the resilience of people affected by drought in Huila, Namibe and Cunene regions.
Speaking at the presentation of the project, the EU representative at the meeting, Danilo Barbeiro, underlined that the initiative aims to support the Angolan disaster risk management institutions to provide coordinated, concrete and effective responses in the event of disasters.
“UNDP and the Civil Protection and Fire Protection Service (SPCB) at central and provincial level should develop disaster and risk management strategies to increase the resilience of the population of the three provinces experiencing a drought, mainly affecting the population. rural areas, ”he said.
