According to the National Police officer, the two lawsuits follow allegations made of illegal criminal practices.
On November 28, a group of bishops and pastors announced their decision to break with Bishop Edir Macedo (church leader) for alleged doctrinal practices contrary to the religion, such as the requirement of vasectomy practice, and the evasion of foreign currency abroad.
A statement signed by more than 300 Angolan bishops and pastors denounced that over the past 12 months, the Brazilian leadership, under Edir Macedo's guidance, has forced Angolan pastors to undergo the vasectomy process.
However, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) had announced that it has been investigating for some time now the allegations of chemical castration and vasectomy eventually submitted to some pastors of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (IURD) in Angola.
The Deputy Attorney General, Mota Liz, said: “A case of a chemical castration was underway days gone by. And this process is taking its normal course. ”
The Attorney General's Office believes that “new elements” have emerged that will certainly be brought for appreciation, work purpose and investigation.
Nevertheless, it encouraged that whenever people take note of a criminal fact they should state, even by unofficial means, in the Attorney General Office which is open to investigate, clarify and, if the facts are confirmed, bring them to court.
In turn, the leadership of the Universal Church, declares that it is a "network of lies planned by former pastors who were disengaged from the institution due to moral misconduct, conduct and even criminals, with the sole purpose of having their greed quenched".
The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in Angola is a religious institution under Angolan law registered with the Ministry of Justice under number 26 and published in the country Gazette on July 17, Series I, number 28.
