The minister disclosed this at the 2nd Consultative Council of Ministry of Former Combatants and Motherland Veterans, held in Cacuaco, Luanda.

He said that the first stage of the registration and proof of life for pensioners enabled to determine the irregularities in the sector.

The first phase of the re-registration and proof of life process, held in September, covered the provinces of Cuanza Norte, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Malange and Moxico.

The participants in the meeting evaluated the performance of 2019.

They also reviewed the proposal of the National Policy of the Former Combatant and the Veteran of the Motherland and addressed the registration process and proof of life.

The 2020 activity plan, in line with the National Development Plan 2018-2022, as well as presentation of the National Census and Control System Database, were discussed by the participants.

The former combatant is any citizen who joined the anti-colonial struggle until the period of independence, on November 11, 1975.

Those who joined the Angolan Armed Forces, or former FAPLA (the armed wing of MPLA), after independence are homeland veterans.
