Court sentences child killer to 24 years in jail

Saurimo - The provincial court of Lunda Sul sentenced, today, Nelson Txihama, to 24 years in prison, for the murder of four children.

In reading the final sentence, Judge Teresa Massolo said that the defendant committed qualified homicide for passionate reasons.

She explained that before committing the crime, the defendant invited the victims to accompany him to the river and, during the course, he executed his intent.

According to the magistrate, the defendant did not present mental disorder, nor evidence of any other pathology that influenced his decision.

The Lunda Sul Provincial Court also ordered the defendant to pay 80,000 Kwanzas of the court fee and a compensation of six million Kwanzas in favor of the victims' relatives.
