Fire-fighters, who rushed to the scene, would not quench the flame until 7:30 am.
According to director of the dispatch of National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT), Paulo Filho, the fire affected an out-of-service alternative equipment.
The source added that the electricity supply is stable and does not affect the normal load, but he did not mention the cause of the incident.
He reported that the fire occurred in the controllable part of the substation reactor. Staff and the fire brigade promptly isolated the equipment and extinguished it.
This is the third case being recorded in this substation this year only, with the first occurred in April.
