This was confirmed Thursday by Minister of State and Head of Security Affairs' Office of the President of Republic, Pedro Sebastião.

Speaking in Parliament on the request by the Head of State for the need to extend the State of Emergency, Pedro Sebastião said they (citizens) are being monitored by various Embassies of Angola abroad.

Meanwhile, the President's aide mentioned the Angolan citizens held in Turkey who, according to him, requested the intervention of the country's authorities.

"They are under control and being accommodated by the Embassy which is taking care of them," said the Minister of State, alluding to his compatriots in Turkey.

He added that the Government is doing its best to mitigate the plight of the all Angolans spread around the world and who are unable to return due to the restrictions imposed.

Angola declared the State of Emergency last March 27 amid COVID-19.
