Canjala Fuel Station Manager arrested over theft

Lubango - The National Police's Criminal Offences Department in Huila detained at the weekend in Lubango a fuel pump supervisor of Canjala municipality, Benguela, who wast at large after the theft of 469,000 Kwanzas from the company.

According to the corporation's chief inspector, Luís Filipe Zilungo, the crime was reportedly committed last Tuesday in Lobito municipality.

It is said that the 31 year old citizen took advantage of his position as manager, and emptied his cashier and he was nowhere to be found until he was captured.

Based on contacts with Benguela's counterparts, the source said, it was possible to locate the suspect in one of Lubango's peripheral neighbourhoods.

At the arrest, the officer said, AKz 469,000.00 was seized as well as several ATM cards  from BAI, BIC, BPC, as well as a visa card owned by the fuel station..

The accused was presented Monday to a prosecutor, who defined the measure of personal coercion of pre-trial detention, until he was transferred to Benguela, where he will answer in court.
