Zaire: Transport minister reassures restructuration of Soyo Port

Soyo - The maritime porto f Soyo Municipality, in the northern Zaire Province, will be restructured in the coming months, aimed at adjusting it to the present reality of the country, Transport minister Augusto da Silva Tomás said last Thursday, in this region.

Speaking at the opening of a seminar on Soyo Port, Augusto Tomás said it is paramount to draft a development plan for this economic infrastructure.    

He said Soyo Port has to undergo a deep rehabilitation programme to make it effectively overcome its current poor state and start contributing more substantially to the country’s development process.  

“Soyo Port fundamentally depends on the agreement relating to the terminal managed by the Kwanda base. We have to change this trend and give it the status that it deserves”, he stressed.

Augusto Tomás also assured that the investments in stock for Soyo Port will bring about better services and contribute to the boosting of Zaire Province’s economy.
