Tourism might help with foreign currencies shortage - Minister
Luanda - The Hotels and Tourism minister, Paulino Baptista, Tuesday in Luanda reaffirmed the country’s commitment to investing in tourism as a solution to the shortage of foreign currencies.

The official who was addressing the celebration of the World Tourism Day, said that the approval of the Tourism Operative Plan (POT 2016/2017) will enable crucial steps to develop the sector.
According to the minister, the tourism sector has been badly hit by the crisis to an extent that the number of foreign tourists visiting the country decreased.
The situation has caused a low accommodation occupation rate, he stated.
He spoke of the need for measures to overcome the constraints caused by the shortage of foreign currencies on the domestic market and thus speed up the implementation of the POT 2016/2017.
Under the POT’s objectives, highlight goes to the attraction of revenues, development of the domestic tourism and training and qualification to develop ecotourism, cultural tourism and boost public and private investments.
The official stated that this could only be possible with the participation of every province with their tourist potential and urged all regions to add their efforts to accomplish the POT 2016/2017.
