First luxury tourist train arrives

Luau - South African operator Rovos Rail's first luxury tourist train from Tanzania, with more than 50 tourists on board, arrived this morning at the border township of Luau, Moxico province.

The train, with tourists of various nationalities, departed on 14th July from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and will have as its final destination the port city of Lobito, Benguela, as part of a trans-African train safari called “The Two oceans.

With ten luxury carriages packed with South African, USA, English, Swiss, Dutch, Australian and New Zealand tourists, the train passed through Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo before reaching Luau, on the Angolan border.

In total, it takes 18 days to reach Lobito, its final destination.To embark on this “epic adventure” aboard the Rovos Rail classic-style train, tourists each spent $ 20,000, or $ 25,000 for two.
