Basketball: Angolan Bruno Fernando seeks to become NBA player

Luanda - The power forward, Bruno Fernandes, is seeking to become the first Angolan to play in the American NBA basketball league, should he be drafted.

The Angolan player is part of the 60 players expecting to be drafted by NBA teams.

Bruno Fernando, who is to turn 21 years old in August, played for Maryland University ( US) this season having been nominated one of the five players contesting for Kareen Abdul Jabbar award 2019.

The 2, 08 metres tall player, who started his career at Angola’s 1º de Agosto team, has been considered physically ready to meet the demands of the NBA competition.

Bruno Fernandes could become the first Angolan to play in the NBA following failed attempts by Gerson Monteiro (San Antonio Spurs), Victor Muzadi (Dallas Mavericks), Olímpio Cipriano (Detroit Pistons), Yanick Moreira (LA Clippers) and Carlos Morais (Toronto Raptors).
