"It is not foreseen and there is no indicator pointing to food shortages", the government official told ANGOP, on the sidelines of the meeting of Parliament's specialized working committees with the ministerial departments.

The official said that several goods still continue to enter the country, which guarantees a quiet period.

According to Joffre Van-Dúnem, this festive season will be calm, despite some cases of price hike taking place among economic operators, who are already being identified.

For the sake of consumer reassurance, the Ministry of Commerce launched an awareness campaign with economic operators across the country's 18 provinces on Monday to crack down on price speculation, based on the current legislation.

"This is a period that drives some operators out of the right path, but our inspectors are already working to curb the trend," he warned.

At present, consumers complain about price increases as a result of the low purchasing power.

"This is the reality of the country, we have to work and look to the future calmly and focus on production," said the minister of Commerce.
