Esopark predicts tonnes of first maize harvest in January

Ondjiva - At least 1500 tonnes of maize will be harvested by January 2020 at Vale Silvestre farm in the "Esopak" Agro-Industrial Project, located in Curoca municipality, southern Cunene province.

This was announced last Thursday by the ranch manager, Mário Rodrigues, while speaking on the sideline of the visit to the project by secretary of the President of Republic for the Productive Sector, Isaac do Anjos.

Mário Rodrigues said that the harvest is a result of plantation of 142 hectares of land. The farm has also 15 hectares of land reserved for hay production for cattle.

The Secretary of State for Economy, Sergio Santos, who joined the delegation, said that the visit allowed to assess the province's undertaking in the field of agriculture and industry, aimed to encourage the increase of national production. 

Isaac dos Anjos visited local projects, including Calueque Dam.

The 40,000-hectare farm currently has 111 workers.
