Classes in general education have been suspended since the end of March, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has infected 81 citizens in Angola.
In a Presidential Decree on the Public Calamity Situation, the Executive directed the resumption of classes in primary and secondary education institutions, public and private secondary education, officially, on 27th of July.
The source states that the reopening of the institutions of the Second Cycle of secondary and university education, depends on the country's epidemiological situation.
In its communique reached ANGOP, the Education Ministry points out that the first quarter runs from 13 July to 28 August and the second from 31 August to 31 December.
Under normal conditions the academic year lasts for 180 academic days, but, in the current context, it will comprise 126 days, corresponding to 70 percent of contents to be taught, stressed the source.
As for the reduction of students in classes, the MED determines that they should be divided into two, with two and a half hours of classes per group.
The classes of primary education and First Cycle of secondary education (of 60 students), whose classes begin on July 27, will be divided into two shifts.
Classes for the first group are set to start at 07:30 until 10:00, with four academic periods, while the second begins at 10:05 and ends at 12:30, with the same number of periods.
In the afternoon the classes starts at 12:45 pm going until 3:15 pm and from 3:25 pm to 5:55 pm.
More than 10 million students have been enrolled in primary education, First Cycle of secondary education and Second Cycle of secondary education.
