Angolan musician José Kafala dies
Luanda - Angolan musician José Kafala died last Friday in Luanda victim of illness, Angop learnt from a family source, saying that the artist was receiving medical treatment at Luanda's Military Hospital.

José Kafala became one of the most prominent troubadours in the post-independence period, along with his brother Moises, with whom he formed the duo Brothers Kafala, until 2004, when they embraced a solo career.
In 1984, the singer won the 1st Festival of Amateur Artists of the Armed Forces individually.
In 1985, the duo won the Top dos Mais Queridos music contest, with the theme “Ó Kudizola Kueto”.
José Kafala was awarded the Diploma of Merit by the Ministry of Culture in 2008, as part of the National Culture Day.
He recorded the solo CD “Bálsamo”, 2004, which followed the albums “Ngola”, 1988, and “Salipo” (1995), recorded jointly with his brother Moisés.
The musician had a brilliant international career as a result of his regular participation in concerts and festivals held in various countries.
