The agreement signed by the director of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, Cecília Gourgel, and by the principal of the University Lueji A’Nkonde, Carlos Yoba, provides for the promotion of greater participation of academics in studies and research actions and to enhance human resources.

The Secretary of State for Cultural and Creative Industries, João Pedro Lourenço, said that this is an agreement that pleases both parties taking into account the studies and research carried out by the academic institution on the intangible cultural historical heritage of the eastern region of the country.

João Pedro Lourenço added that it arises at a particularly important moment considering the existing challenges in the area of ??scientific research, that is why the Ministry of Culture relies on the partnership and intervention of scholars.

In her turn, the director of the National Institute for Cultural Heritage, Cecília Gourgel, said that one of the areas of the agreement is linked to the research aspect of sonas (drawings / inscriptions in the sand), taking into account the process for classification as intangible national heritage.

She added that the partnership will also focus on other areas of Eastern culture, with particular emphasis on dances and other local symbols.
