Minister assures funding to face ravines

Saurimo - Angola's minister of Construction and Public Works Manuel Tavares de Almeida has assured existing financing to start works this year to stop some large ravines in the eastern region of the country.

The minister made the assurance Wednesday to the press during his visit to the eastern Lunda Sul province, underlining that works to face the erosions will go until next year.

He also guaranteed existing money to pay the contractors working on the national highway number 180 that connects Lunda Sul / Moxico and Lunda Norte / Lunda Sul, in order to improve the region's road traffic as quickly as possible.

Still in Lunda Sul, the minister announced the ongoing project for construction of a bridge over Muanguês river, as well as the intention to open next week of Xamuteba/Dundo road.

Priority for this year includes linking Biula/Muconda road, about 150 km of the province's capital.

The minister started his visit to the region on Wednesday to assess the execution of the local projects.
