Speaking on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Peace and National Reconciliation Day, 4 April, Carolina Cerqueira stressed the need for people to exercise distancing, avoid physical contact, gathering in streets, funerals, parties and markets and observe strict house confinement.
The minister praised the medical staff – medics, nurses, health technicians and aid staff – for their effort in taking care of those with the diseases or symptoms.
She extended the praise to public order officers, soldiers and firemen, including administrative and aid personnel whom, according to her, have been making a great effort to keep order, security and social peace, through assistance, civic education and delivering on people’s basic needs.
Carolina Cerqueira said the government appreciates the growing movement of solidarity translated in the voluntary assistance to those in need, the vulnerable and in risky situation, particularly the children and elderly.
The minister also highlighted the role being played by journalists in their civic education endeavour, by disseminating information on the compulsory measures in the framework of the State of Emergency in effect in Angola since 27 March this year.
However, the minister expressed displeasure over the concentration of people in certain locations, in contempt of the rules, thus posing a danger to the whole society.
