The cases reactive to the quick tests, diagnosed in the context of the mass testing campaign, means that at least 4 out of every 100 people screened had contact with the Sars-Cov-2 virus (Covid-19), according to the secretary of State for Public Health.

When updating the data about Covid-19 in the country, Franco Mufinda said that of the 590 people reactive to the test, 80% expressed resistance to the virus, through the immune system.

Following the mass quick testing campaign, which started on the 6th of this month, in the northern province of Cuanza Norte, 1,200 people, including deputies and officials of the National Assembly (parliament), were tested on Tuesday in Luanda.

Of that number, 51 people were reactive to the test, of which 42 showed IGG results (meaning that the immune system resisted and eliminated the virus from the body), six demonstrated that they still have the active disease (IGM) and three expressed the transient phase of disease (IGM-IGG).

The same action also covered 1,200 employees of the Palace of Justice, of which 60 were reactive, of which 51 IGG, 5 IGM and 4 IGM-IGG.

In addition to Luanda and Cuanza Norte, the campaign also included the provinces of Huíla, Lunda Norte, Bengo, Uíge, Benguela and Cabinda, where, so far, 4800 people have been tested, of which 129 have been reactive cases ( IGG and IGM).

According to the Secretary of State, of the 129 reactive cases in these provinces, 56 people expressed the probability of having the active disease (IGM), while 73 are IGG.

Of the 56 IGM people, 24 are from Cuanza Norte, three from Uíge, the same number from Lunda Norte, Huíla, Cabinda and Benguela, while Malanje and Namibe have not yet identified any cases.

Faced with this scenario, the government officila appealed for calm to people with the IGG and IGM results, because this diagnosis is not yet definitive, it is just a presumption or probability of having the disease.

He reaffirmed that the result of the rapid serological test must be confirmed by the RT-PCR molecular biology exam, urging people to wait for the final diagnosis.

The mass rapid testing campaign aims to assess people's immunity and track potential positive cases of Covid-19 in communities.

With the confirmation of 16 new infections in the last 24 hours, Angola has 525 positive cases (475 are from local transmission), 26 deaths, 118 recovered and 397 active.
