Reintegration of Khoisan people in Cuando Cubango highlighted

Menongue - The south-eastern Cuando Cubango Province's vice governor for political, social and economic sector, Carla Cativa, last Wednesday highlighted the partnership between the government and non-governmental organizations in supporting the Khoisan community.

The official, who was speaking to the press regarding the social integration of Khoisan community, said the partnership has produced satisfactory results, especially in the education and health sectors.

The vice-governor also highlighted the process of settlement of this nomadic group in areas close to urban zones, which has made it possible to provide basic social services to this ethnic group.

As regard projects to be developed, Carla Cativa spoke of the construction of houses, schools and health posts, as well as instruction in the practices of cultivation in riverside areas to improve family agricultural production.

The director general of the non-governmental organization Mission of Farming Benefit Inclusion Technologies and Environment (MBAKITA), Pascoal Baptistiny Samba, reiterated his determination to continue supporting the government in assisting members of the Khoisan community to enable their integration and improve living conditions of this people.

MBAKITA controls around 11,956 members of the Koisan community, 7,398 of whom are women and 4,058 men, with 1087 of them having been already resettled in the municipalities of Menongue, Calai, Cuangar, Dirico and Mavinga.

There are also 214 families that have benefited from seeds and working tools, as well as technical and agricultural assistance.
