Brazzaville – World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned of a third wave of covid-19 in several countries of Africa in the coming weeks and encouraged the states to continue their vaccination campaigns.
This was announced online by the WHO regional director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti, during the information session on Covid-19 pandemic in Africa.
AstraZeneca vaccine was suspended in several countries due to alleged cases of serious adverse reactions, said the official, recalling that the WHO is providing the countries with all available information.
Still, Moeti encouraged countries to continue with their vaccination campaigns and not to take breaks.
The WHO regional director for Africa said that a third wave is expected in the coming weeks, taking into account that "governments are easing restrictions and the population is tired of joining the public health measures".
