Ndalatando – The Forest Development Institute (IDF) in Kwanza Norte raised, in 2021, the amount of AKZ 40.7 million (USD 7,443 equivalent), with the exploitation license of 12,100 cubic meters of wood.
The amount, clarifies the IDF, represents a 4% increase, compared to 2020, in which 9,820 cubic meters of wood were exploited, allowing the collection of Akz 35 million (USD 64,755 equivalent).
The pine wood species, with a volume of 6,600 cubic meters, was the most requested, followed by the Meranti Wood varieties, with 1,325 meters, Teak Wood, with 1,050, Mapple wood, with 1,000, and Cedar wood, with 850.
According to the head of the IDF in Kwanza Norte, Rosário Teixeira, the exploitation of wood took place in the municipalities of Bolongongo, with six concessionaires, Golungo Alto, with two, and Cazengo and Cambambe, with one each.
He pointed out that, unlike in previous years, in which Pine Wood and Teak Wood were the species most preferred by loggers, in 2021, there was a lot of competition for other varieties, by licensed concessionaires, which went from eight, in 2010, to ten, in 2021.
