Dundo - The governor of Lunda Norte, Ernesto Muangala, Friday directed the Provincial Agriculture Office to create bases for the production of more food, moving from rudimentary means to a mechanised and sustainable activity.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of the new director of the Office, José Mendes, the governor said that Lunda Norte could no longer be seen as a province that depends solely and exclusively on diamond exploration, judging by its agricultural potential.
"The agricultural sector must permanently promote job opportunities. For this fact, the office should establish partnerships with the business class, with a view to planning actions that serve as a basis for the promotion of sustainable agri-livestock activity," he noted.
He recommended more technical support for farmers in the interior of the province, with a view to boosting the sector in the ten municipalities.
He also called on municipal administrations to create minimum conditions that ensured greater speed in the flow of agricultural products, in order to prevent their deterioration and to stimulate an increase in production.
