Curoca – Over three tonnes of tomatoes went rotten in southern Cunene province, due to the lack of transport to flow the products caused by the poor state of the road in the region.
The 50-kilometre road that connects the district to the headquarters of the municipality of Oncócua is in very bad conditions making it impossible to move vehicles and facilitate the flow of products.
The municipal administrator of Curoca, Domingos Taby, pointed out that, despite the problem of cyclical drought, some farmers have travelled to this area abundant in water resources to produce and guarantee their families' livelihoods, as well as to make a surplus, but unfortunately most of these products went rotten.
Domingos Taby egretted the massive damage of the products most consumed by Angolan families because of the poor state of the roads, which has discouraged motorists from travelling through these parts.
He argued that, in addition to the lack of transport, the rain in the region is another factor that makes it impossible for farmers to sell their produce elsewhere in the region.
The municipality of Curoca, 333 kilometres away from Ondjiva city, has 48,40 inhabitants, divided into two communes, Oncócua and Chitado.
