Luanda - Angola will exhibit its maritime potential at a stand during the Oceans Conference to be held in Lisbon (Portugal) on 27 June - 1 July, according to the minister of State for the Social Affairs, Carolina Cerqueira.
The minister told this to the press on the sidelines of a meeting with the Coordinator of the United Nations System in Angola.
The official described the event as an opportunity for the country to show its potential in terms of resources in the context of promoting the blue economy.
“Angola will show its oceanic potential, the importance of the oceans, the blue and circular economy”, she added.
According to the minister, the intention is to show that the oceans guarantee wealth, employment, sustainability and, in a modern way, contribute to cooperation, reciprocity and solidarity among peoples.
Carolina Cerqueira added that the sea has the wealth that contribute to the job market and cooperation between peoples.
The Ocean Conference is a call to action for the oceans and will serve to urge world leaders and all decision-makers to increase ambition, mobilize partnerships and increase investment in scientific and innovative approaches, as well as employing nature-based solutions to reverse the decline in ocean health.
The event comes at a crucial time, as the world seeks to resolve many of the problems deeply rooted in societies and highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Lisbon Conference aims to provide solutions to the world's problems, awakening the need for investments by all countries in the seas and the promotion of sustainability and the blue economy on a path that will benefit everyone.
